Antibiotics are not sold without doctor's prescription: High Court


The High Court has directed the government to take steps to stop the sale of antibiotics without proper supervision and prescription of the registered doctors.

Within two days of receiving the order,
The general manager has been asked to issue circular to civil surgeons and district administrators of each district.
The bench of Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif and Justice Rajik Al Jalil on Thursday ordered the primary hearing of a writ petition filed in public interest.
Why will it not be declared illegal to sell antibiotics without proper supervision and management of the registered veterinarian?

The Health Secretary, Directorate of Health and Director General of Drug Administration, Public Administration Secretary and all the deputy commissioners and civil surgeons of the country have been asked to respond to the rule.
On Wednesday, a few daily newspapers in the country including the British daily "The Telegraph" submitted a writ petition to the High Court by lawyer Syed Sayedul Haq Suman
